Meet Meghan
For more than 25 years, Meghan Backofen has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy and support to survivors of trauma. Drawing on her extensive clinical experience, she has developed comprehensive sexual abuse prevention programs, written a children's book for sexual abuse prevention, and continues to provide guidance to survivors and their support networks.
Meghan specializes in trauma-focused care, offering evidence-based mental health assessments and treatment for child trauma survivors and their families. She is a certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) provider, consultant, and trainer. In addition, she serves as a facilitator for the American Psychological Association's Effective Providers Program and as a trainer with the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVCTTAC).
Since 2014, Meghan has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver, teaching Trauma-Informed Assessment and Intervention and Clinician Skills to Master of Social Work students. She is also the creator of 10 Tips for Sexual Abuse Prevention, a widely accessible educational program now available as a podcast on iTunes.
